Life happens Now!
Or to be more precise, your life is happening right now as you read, and mine is happening as I write. The balance of our lives is the sum of the moments that we live day in day out — the ordinary and mundane, or the exciting and exhilarating. We sometimes realize the difference or impact we make at a given moment, but often, we are only able to see it in retrospect.
Simply put, it is essential to living life to its fullest – right now – from moment to moment.
Give that friend who needs a listening ear your full attention and time. She may find her solutions in the process of talking to you because you conveyed through your listening that you care. Refrain from that exasperated retort and count to sixty before you say anything to that family member who has made a bad decision – again. Your silence may free him to own his problems.
Stop waiting for the right moment to join a gym and start exercising.
Do twenty jumping jacks right now. You don’t have to wait for that big break in your writing or music. Pick up your pen (or open your laptop) and write what’s on your heart, then share it with your friends and family. Their lives will be more productive for it, and so will yours. Write that song now, then sing it to whoever will listen.
Friends, let’s stop looking to the past with longing and regret – we can’t go back and change what has happened. We can only learn so that we live better and wiser – now.
Let’s stop longing for the future at the expense of the present.
Our future is the culmination of the decisions we make and the actions we take today. A wise man said, “whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” He was talking about living in the present.
Let’s live life well – now.
