In this age of technology and the internet, many in our culture often confuse access to information with knowledge. As this applied to scripture, we realize that we cannot live according to the precepts of God’s word or pray in alignment with His word if we don’t know His word.

Listen to the wisdom of the psalmist, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:9 & 11).

God is not asking us to merely access scripture on our iPads or store His word in our cell phones. He instructs us to hide His word in our hearts  Only then, when we find ourselves faced with challenging decisions, or in the midst of hard circumstances, will we be able to draw on the wisdom, strength, and power of God.  By His Holy Spirit, Jesus promises to “teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that that I have said to you.”

May we be faithful to read His word and diligent to hide it in our hearts.  If we do, we know it will be with us when we need it.  God promises to sustain us and keep us by His word. There is an assurance that the power in God’s Word will always fulfill the promises of His Word.
